Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses an urgent threat to human health as antimicrobials are essential to modern medicine. Increasing levels of resistance to existing antimicrobials, and in particular antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections, means that some infections are becoming more difficult or even impossible to treat.
