Legislation and Guidance

Legislation on animal feed is harmonised at European Union (EU) level. It applies to feed for food-producing animals, including farmed fish, and also to feed for non-food producing animals, including pets, zoo and circus animals and creatures living freely in the wild. Horses and rabbits are classed as food-producing animals. The legislation applies to the manufacture, sale and supply of animal feed in the United Kingdom and is divided according to the main set of regulations. Links to relevant pieces of legislation are provided.

Committees

The AIC Feed Sector consists of a number of committees. Each committee and working group has specific aims and objectives in line with the aims and objectives of the sector. The minutes of each committee and working group are published on the website so members can be fully involved in all of the technical discussions.

Finding a Feed Adviser

The Feed Adviser Register (FAR) recognises standards of professionalism within the livestock feed supply sector and operates through a network of Feed Adviser members that give advice to UK livestock producers.
