Contracts for the Feed Sector
The key objective of the policy sector is to improve the competitive position of AIC member companies by influencing the development of policy at the England, UK and European level to promote productive agriculture, whilst at the same time protecting the environment. Collaboration with industry stakeholders is a key focus of the work of the policy sector to communicate and develop best practice approaches, encourage innovation in research and development and build on models for knowledge exchange within the agricultural industry.
Our work and commitment in the policy sector provides members with a number of benefits including lobbying on key issues and the communication of pertinent information to ensure that members are aware of the latest policy developments such as changes to existing or new legislation.

Legislation on animal feed is harmonised at European Union (EU) level. It applies to feed for food-producing animals, including farmed fish, and also to feed for non-food producing animals, including pets, zoo and circus animals and creatures living freely in the wild. Horses and rabbits are classed as food-producing animals. The legislation applies to the manufacture, sale and supply of animal feed in the United Kingdom and is divided according to the main set of regulations. The AIC Feed Sector consists of a number of committees. Each committee and working group has specific aims and objectives in line with the aims and objectives of the sector. The minutes of each committee and working group are published on the website so members can be fully involved in all of the technical discussions.
The Feed Adviser Register (FAR) recognises standards of professionalism within the livestock feed supply sector and operates through a network of Feed Adviser members that give advice to UK livestock producers.
